Three new things to get used to today.
This machine, new state quarters,
and standard transmission.
  I'm re-learning this laptop. A model
100, same exact machine I'd written
"My Little Laptop" about a couple years
ago. I owned the 200, the only major
difference was the flip-top screen
instead of this eight-line screen.
I received my first state quarter
today.
Correct: Not a US quarter (well, sort
of) but a state one. This one's weird.
I asked for change for the parking
meter, I got four quarters- three real
ones and this one that says "Delaware,
1787, 1999, e pluribus unum, ceasar
rodney, the first state, united states
of america, liberty, in god we trust,
quarter dollar," and a "D" plus a
picture of a man riding a horse is on
the back of the usual George Washing-
ton-looking-like-a-girl-picture.
First I thought it was a Canadian
coin, then I looked closer and realized
I'd been ripped off by a mint that's
now gone mega-verbose.
  Manual transmission. The first car
I ever owned was a stick. In fact,
every car I've ever purchased has been
standard. I'll drive an automatic if
it's someone elses' but if I'm buying,
it's going to be 4 or 5 speed, thank
you very much. Well, the new house car
is a 4-speed tranny. I haven't drove
stick in about 3 years. Now I'm going
to have to relearn I guess.
Today has been a day of new old
things.
